Roof Plumbing

Complementary Homes are committed to professional service with quality workmanship using the most reputable roofing products in roof plumbing. Which is termed in the Home Building Regulation as fixing, installation, renovation, alteration, repair and maintenance of guttering, downpipes, roof flashing and roof coverings on a building or structure , for purposes of the Home Building Act 1989, Clause 10 of the regulation 2004,

When considering roof flashing, copperised and correctly fixed lead is the best flashing material for slates and tiles.

Both galvanised steel and copper can be used for valley gutters which drain quickly and efficiently.

Where water may lie in box guttering, the use of copper is preferred because it is environmentally friendly as research has recently shown.

"copper offers the lowest embodied energy compared with stainless steel and aluminium, as well as the lowest CO2 equivalent emissions. Much scientific research has also been carried out to understand the complex processes occurring in the environment with rainwater runoff from copper roofs. This has demonstrated that extensive use of copper to clad buildings is environmentally safe."
(European Competence Centre, Germany).

It should be noted, the correct use of both materials is important and that copper and galvanised steel should not be used together e.g. Copper above the galvanised steel.
